As a website dedicated to Craft Chocolate, we have to start featuring craft chocolate makers. You know the ones that source cacao beans and are dedicated to making the best chocolate possible from scratch. (You can find a list of some amazing chocolate makers and businesses here, including this article’s feature maker Baron Hasselhoff.)
And you’d think we’d be a little biased with this one.
As an Aussie made website, we probably should start with an Aussie maker… but we’re going for a short swim to new Zealand, because in exciting news:

We have huge respect for Clayton and Erin. Not only have they grabbed the chocolate making beast by the horns, but they’ve done it with flair.
Their branding and the designs make the entire chocolate eating experience memorable (trust us, you will never forget their bars),
Their chocolate always tastes amazing and their flavor combinations are exceptionally inventive.
They’ve got a wicked sense of humor
And the thing that we love the most is how thoughtful their marketing strategy is (if you’ve read our other posts, you’ll know we’re obsessed with marketing).
More generally, chocolate marketing has always played on kid friendly characters, appealing to all ages great and small. The only problem is that commercial chocolate marketing barely skims the surface of providing any information on where chocolate comes from.
Not only do their source their beans direct from farmers and co-ops, but they give recognition where it’s due and they do this beautifully.
The Baron himself plays a key role in their story telling – he’s always getting up to unbelievably imaginative shenanigans, all designed to paint a picture on how flavorful that chocolate bar is.
This is their description of Baron Hasselhoff’s chocolate bar “Drunk’n Donuts” – which you can buy here!
“We’ve all committed the odd fashion crime. But did you know you can actually go to jail for wearing too much gold lamé?
The Baron found that out the hard way – and was locked up for life.
To escape, he distracted the guards from their sugary, cinnamon-y afternoon donuts and spiked them with contraband rum. They knocked the guards out cold, and soon The Baron was free.
To celebrate, he recreated the flavour in chocolate.

It’s so good it should be illegal. Consume responsibly.”
Like we said – brilliant. They’ve taken the playfulness that chocolate is known for and put an adult spin on it. All while describing the flavors and giving recognition to the beans (this chocolate bar is a Single Origin bar where the beans have been sourced from Solomon Islands – Cathliro Cacao.)
They’ve done it so, so SO well.
“Sri Lanka’s competitive butter sculpting scene is hot, hot, hot.
In fact, The Baron was in the line of fire when this year’s closing ceremony got too hot.
He and his fellow competitors fled the stage after a butter-fingered pyrotechnician dropped the box of Ceylon’s Signature Cinnamon Fireworks, sparking a fragrant fire that melted their sculptures into buttery pools.
Captivated by aromas of burnt butter and cinnamon in the air, The Baron decided to immortalise the night in chocolate.”

And as described, this bar seriously explodes with flavor. It’s should be on your bucket list for three reasons:

That first piece sent our brains in two different directions (we know… here we go again…)
You could go either way with the cinnamon:
On top of that, this bar melts soooooo effortlessly. The Baron himself uses the words “buttery pools” and “Cinnamon Fireworks” to describe his bar and we can’t do it any better. All we want to do is dive right in and polish the bar off. It’s THAT good.
