Melt away with some of America’s best chocolate this summer

Published

12 July 2024

Slather your summer with craft chocolate.

America knows how to summer. And not just beautiful weather, road trips and outdoor activities. They’ve raised the bar with their craft chocolate experiences all through July and August 2024.

Comment if we’ve missed something, but chocolate is normally associated with being a winter warmer. An “eat this, you’ll feel better” food as it warms you up from the inside (and bonus points if you recognize the quote).

But whilst pulling together the Craft Chocolate Calendar, we’ve noticed a pretty sweet trend. And it makes us wish we could be there all summer long.

A couple of makers (on opposite ends of the country) have organized a couple of series of chocolate events to help you hit the spot this summer. How could we not share this!

Here’s what we’d be doing if we had a Summer Choc Pocket in the U.S:

West Coast Series: San Francisco + Dandelion Chocolate

Dandelion Chocolate is a bean-to-bar chocolate maker who have been making their own single-origin dark chocolate for over 10 years. And they’re so high on our wish list. It used to be because of the rave reviews we’ve heard from chocolate eaters all over the world. But now, with this collection of events, they’ve basically made themselves irresistible.

Dandelion Chocolate have introduced a “Summer Series” of events. And these two words hit us so hard that it inspired this article.

The Summer Series involves four “one of a kind” summer events, that have been spread out so you can enjoy chocolate all summer long. Including:

There’s something in there for the entire family. Plus the community focus makes us love this series even more..

Next up we have:

East Coast Series: New York + Primo Chocolate

For a completely different take, Primo Chocolate have you covered (or should we say coated?) on the East Coast.

After years of exploring herbal infused chocolates, Primo Chocolates are bringing a unique set of three classes to New York this summer. So not only do you get the adventure of the chocolate making process, you also get to play with some interesting and powerful infusions that could take your chocolate eating to a whole other level:

This is a series that gets your hands dirty while cooling off and finding some remedies to get you through the heat. Sounds like a sweet deal!

Somewhere in the middle – we’ve got two summer meet-and-greets we’d love to attend.

Arizona + Monsoon Chocolate

How can you resist an invitation to have a chat and taste chocolate with a bean to bar maker that’s making “Dessert in the Desert”? Adam Scott Krantz is opening shop doors on 17 July 2024 to talk about their chocolate, the creative process that brings each exquisite piece to life and share some fascinating stories along the way. We’d crawl through any desert / dessert to get there.

Texas + Madhu Chocolate

Now there’s something comforting about combining summer, heat and Indian spices all into one. And we couldn’t leave Madhu Chocolate’s chocolate making workshops off the list.

Now just a heads up that their July session is sold out (and we know, it’s so cruel to even include this event in the list). BUT there are two more coming up in September 2024 and October 2024, so why not extend your summer just that little bit further?

Can’t make it to these events?

Well if you’re in our boat, and you’re too far from all of the above, check out our Craft Chocolate Calendar.

We’ve got events from around the world (admittedly a little United States heavy!). Have a browse and filter the calendar to your country to see what you can get to. There are plenty of ways to get some craft chocolate in you over the next season.

[Disclaimer – We’ve gotta be totally honest here. We’re an Australian based website, talking about craft chocolate on a global scale.

And while we’ve got hopes and dreams of exploring chocolate worldwide, we’ve got to settle with living vicariously for now. Comment below or email us if you’ve done any of these activities, we’d love to hear from you!]

Thanks heaps for talking beans with us and hopefully we’ll see ya soon!

Where to next?

Well if you’re hooked we recommend:

And if you’re still not so sure, check out what events or makers are in your area:
