Enjoy a guided tasting of white, milk, dark and flavoured craft chocolates from different makers and cacao growing regions, chosen to illustrate the complexity and variety on offer.
This event has been a long time in the planning, and what better way to celebrate International Women’s Day than in the company of two inspiring women who champion the regional diversity of Peruvian cacao and the skill and craftsmanship required to express its extraordinary flavour potential.
For this tasting, I am delighted to have teamed up with Chocolate Seekers to curate a unique opportunity to showcase one of the most exciting and diverse fine cacao origins in the world and to introduce you to two of its protagonists:
Amanda Jo “AJ” Wildey – anthropologist, certified chocolate taster and owner of El Cacaotal – works closely with small-scale farmers and producers to promote and sell Peruvian bean-to-bar chocolate.
Vigdis Rosenkilde – CEO and founder of her award-winning chocolate brand – sources cacao directly from farmers in Peru, monitoring the entire process from plantation to factory, with production kept entirely in the country of origin.
During this two hour live online tasting, we will be introduced to ten hand-selected bars sourced from El Cacaotal including bars from makers Yuyariway, Paytiti, Ura Chocolates, Scrap & Chocolates, Pumatiy and Keshet and three Vigdis Rosenkilde bars.
We will be taken on a journey through the remarkable genetic diversity of cacao from the growing regions of VRAEM, Chuncho and Piura. Expect delicate florals, mouthwatering fruit, bold intensity, and a whole spectrum of flavour notes in between.
